Close up of meter.
Remeber all I want to do is set the flexdrive to put out 420mA to the LD. Thanks!

Ok...nevermind. I disconnected the resistor and measured the current in series with the dummy load. I should of done this in the first place. After measuring the current in series I was easily able to adjust the pot to 420mA. Do you think I fried the 2 diodes by miscalculating the current in my earlier mistakes? One other mistake I may have made is trying to spread the pins apart and thereby shorting out the positive pin on the diode (I don't know). I didn't realize that it is kind of floating in the casing. Anyway, this is harder then I thought but I'm having fun learning my costly errors ;) So did i fry them or maybe short them by spreading the pins like a dumbass?

If your measuring across the resistor (like in picture^^^), change your DMM to volts.
Use that reading & divide it by 3 (ohm resistor) to get mA.

If you leave the DMM like it is on the mA setting, cut red wire at resistor, then measure with a clip on the red wire & the other on the end of the resistor to get a direct mA reading.

Edit: oh good, you got it! :)
