Flexdrive Driver Heatsink for Continuous driver duty cycle @ 1.5A

why? what is different about that from the Rckstr? would the actual process of building it be any different?

Instead of asking question after question that been answered 100 times before, try using the search button. We dont help people who dont help themselves. Start with the first link in my sig, then the second, then the third. If you still have any questions after that, we will be happy to help you.

i have absolutly no idea what that means

Thats because you haven't done your homework. You cant short cut building lasers. You have to crawl before you can walk.

wouldnt it be alot easier if you where to just answer my question?
thats why you scout these threads anyway isnt it?

should i get a flexdrive or a micro boost?
is the wiring any different for either of them?
the only thing i want to know is what to wire what to what exactly.
i know put diode in module, wire it to wires, put module in heatsink, get pill, wire driver to pill (which im still kinda confused about) and solder wires from out put of the driver to the wires from the diode

If we spent all our time answering those questions we would not have any time to build lasers. I spent quite a bit of time compiling and writing one of those tutorials to give you the clues to find this stuff out for yourself. The answers are there, you just have to look, read, and read some more. You are the one in control of building a laser, not us. It took myself, and most members here, a good few weeks of reading before grasping the basics. It'll be the same for you I'm afraid...

... But you are supposed to enjoy the journey though. ;)

alright, cuz ive been researching for a couple weeks and i know alot at this point, just not the really technicle stuff. i should probably know the types of drivers by now though

Alright we need some big facepalm smilies. I would not say that I know a lot. because I don't know much at all compared to most here. I tried to nudge you nicely a few posts ago but the hint was a little to subtle I guess. I like to give info where I can. But you have to realize this is a thread about modding your host to keep your flexdrive from overheating when powering a 445 diode @ 1.5A. Your questions have been all over the place. Asking about how to set up a Rkster driver to use with a 405 is just a tad off topic. We have tried to tell you a few times that the info you seek is out there all you need to do is search for it. I don't have the time to go step by step threw building your laser for you nor would I want to. If you can't find the info via search post in an appropriate place and people will assist you were they can.

You only need to read a little more deeply on that one subject then. In short - Linear drivers require more voltage than the diode they're trying to drive, (therefore increasing the number of batteries you require for bluray and 445s), and boost drivers can drive from a lower voltage than the diode requires.

Not trying to put you down, just ask specifics. (... and probably in a more suitable thread. This one is dealing with heatsinking.) ;)

Good luck. There are tutorials that explain further but if you get stuck post a thread in the appropriate section saying something like, "I've looked at this tutorial, {link}, and this one, {link}. I'm thinking of using these parts... Here's the problem I'm having... ". This will get you the help you need.

thanks guys i'm sorry for the n00bish behavior. the only reason i originally looked through this thread was because i asked how to set up the pill on an MXDL for the driver, and DTR sent me here, Im gunna look up more what i should use

:D

Good to hear. I hope you found how I set up the pill helpful. It is not that bad of a host. Setting up the pill and even the battery mod for 18650 are pretty straightforward.

People get mad when they repeat things over and over again especially to someone they know wont really understand it anyway.

Maybe we should have a parts thread. Something that shows all of the drivers and diodes we have used on LPF here.

With pictures I think that would be another good sticky. I'll make it whenever if someone else doesn't. I don't know of everything myself so I would have to have people add comments to correct it. I might do it tomorrow...

^ I little reading perhaps?

Edit: DTR, forgot to mention that nice looking grinding spot on your thumb. lol I recognize that mark all to well. Wife asked me to do something before I hit enter.....on the bank. Maybe a local store too.

Actually that is from trying to solder my thumb.

Soldering irons are hot very hot. Who would have thunk it?
