You will see posts from some people who have taken a DX apart without damaging the cap or barrel....I am not one of them  fortunately I take them apart to use the modules so it doesn't matter that the case is kn*ckered.

They are very well put together these days, you will just have to get phisical with it I am afraid.

Here's how i go about it:

- heat the cap a bit, i often use the stove, be careful it doesnt get scalding hot as not do damage the laser.

- clamp the cap in a vice with some cloth in between.

- wiggle and twist the rest of the laser out of the cap.

it doesnt come off that easy the first time usually, and i haven't found a way to remove it without using a table vice.

I gave up on mine as well. Tried the blocks and the vice, it just didn't budge and I didn't want to wreck it. I didn't try heat though.

It's probably better that way anyway because I was going to mount an IR filter inside the cap. I've recently realized that doing that would have overheated the innards pretty fast, so I'm glad I never got it open, in hindsight.

Good luck with yours! Let us know if the heat works for you.

Cheers, CC

can i just pull the module without removing the cap ?

Nope, all you can do is keep at it......I got to the stage where I just chucked them up in the lathe and turned the cap off....................

Use the wooden block method WITH HEAT. The heat softens the glue considerably. Apply just enough heat to make it a little too hot to touch with bare hands and then work quickly with the wood blocks.

I am not familiar with this laser, but in principal, a push press with proper diameter is the most logical answer.

machine a brass or plastic device of proper diameter and use a vise and an open hole to "press" or "push" the object out.

search your shop... there is a good chance you have a object such as a punch or drill bit that has a similar diameter, maybe your ingenuity can help locate a matching diameter object and you can develop a tool to help push it out.

It is really easy to find a drill bit to suit any diameter as they are available via fractional, numerical and alphabetical sizes. Lopping off a short length from the shaft is not hard with a drill and a file or dremel and they are easily spun and filed to a flat.

i opened it  ;D with the wood blocks method  :( but i ruined the cap it so ugly  :-/ ...,never mind now i want to know where is the ir filter can u tell me ? (ill post pics later)
i didnt actually removed the cap a part of the module  where the colimating lens is , came out with the cap and it is still sticked to the cap can you belive this they must be using some kind of SuuuPeer Gluuueee! ta-ta-ta-taaaaam damdaam :D
conclusion:
1 . Pot mod doesnt work
2 . Cant find the ir filter
