I have a cheap 5mW green laser I got from ebay a few years ago (probably 4 or 5). It works, but sometimes the beam varies in brightness greatly. I just took the laser apart (for the first time) and it looks like it's the same module (or very similar) as that used in a DX laser. Whenever the brightness goes way down, I can tap it on the table (gently) and it will come back. Sometimes there in no light at all, but the laser thinks it is on. I was wondering if I can fix this easily (or if I could adapt a sandstone green module to be used in the laser easily, I have 3 on the way).

Thanks,
Andy

If that's the endcap with the positive battery contact, then no, it's not that because I took the module out and am hooking it directly up to the batteries, it's not in the pointer housing anymore. It's also not a DX laser, it's got the same module though. It's a super cheapo unbranded laser.

maybe your LD is in a bad condition...however if you like lasers I would recommend you to buy a new one from dealextreme that has great prices
