DX Powerlight HX-G011 disassembly problems

Today I recieved my thought bluray host from DX (sku.2070) and was going to measure what current the booster driver puts out. The problem is that the diver is held in place by a metal ring I need to get rid of. This normally wouldn't be a problem, but since the ring must be intact I need no remove it in a safe way. Does anyone know how to do that? I've heard about bending it, but I'm unsure of which way to bend it. The ring can be seen in the picture below.

put a pen in between the metal and the board and try to get it out?

have you tried heating it to see if some glue melts off the surface?

I used this method tight now, managed to remove the metal ring and everything just popped out

If I manage to build a dummy circuit and test the drive with it, I'll post a small review of it, since there has been some discuccion whether this is a good host or not.
