red lasers aren't going to appear very bright, i have a 100mw red laser that is easily overpowered by my 35mw green, it also doesn't hurt your skin but when focused down to a point can light matches, smoke just about anything, etc

ok thanks i think it is breaking in (in a good way) meaning i can now light matches from about 10 feet away when i have sharpie on the end of it( i could not do that when i got it)

what do u think about the halo around it is it normal ?

i am having a hard time focusing it it is such a weird way of focusing

i have to but a flat head screwdriver to the lens to focus it. i think i will go to home depot and get a piece of tube the right size and make the notches on it so i can focus and see the laser.

so with red lasers it does not hert when u put it on skin?????

i am getting some black balloons tonight to have some more fun.

The proper tool you need I think is called a spanner wrench. Of course you can make your own.. ;) But since you are going to Home Depot you might as well see if they have them.

this sucks i hate having to adjust the focus a lot is i get the dot at like a 5mm at like 10 feet when i got and point it down the hall the dot is like 3 in
big.

and i want to contact DX because i know that this is not 100mw if i focus it to a pinpoint and put my hand there i dont feel the heat at all.
but i hate DX customer serves it SUCKS and i cant call them because i cant call an international #

with this laser when i point it into the sky i see no beam what so ever.

You can't have it both ways with these...you need to focus for distance to see a beam.

What's with this hand thing??? Sharpie your hand and then see if you feel anything.

As far as the laser acting up, it could be your batteries or a bad connection some where.

When it was working....it sounded like it was working correctly.

Someone also posted somewhere that he turned the pot and it shorted out or opened up causing diode damage.  I forget where that was posted.

Mike
Quote from dx100 mini review
As soon as I touched the pot with my pot twiddler the LD went to LED mode
Investigation shows I have a dodgy pot that goes open circuit as soon as any pressure is put on it....the effect of the fault is that the LD got whacked with 5v.

That quote in Mikes post was from me on the review forum.....I think it is telling us that the pot may be dodgy on these things, sorry it wasn't noted soon enough to save your LD divindavid.....

Rog is correct -- He posted that. I noticed on mine that the pots were not fully inserted into the board. I reseated mine but they still won't seat all the way.

Ditto Mike, I think they must have designed the board for one footprint then sourced cheap ones with different leg spacing......shoddy I call it
