k so.. fixed the 0 problem but now the numbers keep jumpen like crazy and i cant get them steady at 100.. keeps jumpen to like 500... any suggestions?

and see how urs was going up very nice and slow.. mine keeps jumping REALLY fast and doesnt stay on 1 number.. it keeps either going up or down

hmmm.... sound like you have a fked pot... it happens some times. Try turning off power then let it stand for like 5 mins... bleed the caps completely.. then test it out. Also make sure you keep the connection to the 1 ohm resistor still, if you dont hold it still you will get fluxuations in your readings. I use aligator clips to hold the wires, this keeps it in place. BTW may I ask how you fixed the 0 problem?
BTW I doubt you have a 2000kmv setting I think you mean 2kmv setting or 2000mv setting. Actually that reminds me.. are you reading mv DC or ma DC?? You should have it on 2k (2000) mv DC setting.

ok i got it stable at 99.4 im not touchen NUTTEN lol now time to put it all tog........... o god... lol u were right i mwas on the rong setting >_<

ok so.. i powered it up.. laser was awesome for about 2 secs.. then it got really dim.. any suggestions?

*sigh* seems you have killed your first diode. Maybe abit more reading was in order. After removing the dummy load did you discharge the capacitors on the driver? are any of the solder points cracked, dry or burnt? did a connection go loose? do you have a switch? is the switch before or after the driver? are the batteries new or old?

everything was new.. no solder was burnt.. but i did have a lot of probelms with the sodler stayen on the board holding my wires in place... kept coming loose and had to keep resoldering..

If you are using a Long-die DVD diode, (red), 412mA will be fine. For a BR, only the 8x and better could survive such a setting, not to mention the FD can only boost to the required voltage until about 390mA IIRC, for a BR-diodes higher voltage forward. I am guessing that you are building a red, if so your set-up sounds fine.
As far as battery-life goes, it should last quite a while, (over an hour of on-time),even from a cheap battery, that is really no problem.
