Default Diode versus driver, pins placement?

Hi guys.

My first diode+driver replacement, but got a feeling that the two pins i have placed on drivers LD+ & LD- according to the diode +/- schematic.
But looking on the retail models, it doesnt look right..

are my minus & plus correct, or is it the other solderpoint on the other side of the driver, i should use.
On the retails ones, they are often funded in three legs, with the two active pins soldered in one joint.
Checked in the official laserbuild tread, but not much about the different driver connections)

(LD 445nm +1w likely A-model 3 string ver hence low price, but not sure, rookie on this subject) thanks for any help/guidance

From what I see it looks correct.
LD+ and LD- mean Laser diode positive and laser diode negative and if that is an A140 then it's correct.

Take a look here and you can see the diode pinout. It's the same for an A140.

Yes, that was also my impression, its my first soldering an putting diode to driver and taken all precaution that was obvius to me from an rookie perspective.

I wasnt sure about the diode brand, but a very sympatic and trustworthy & respectable seller on ebay, i purchased two in auction..
They where not labeled, but after recieving them, concluded it likely was the M140 A model with 3 string.


My intention was to suit them up in the retail gatling-style host single3.7, where the internals when LED..

Was a little unsure about carrying the black wire thrue the host to diode, since most builds here, seems to put both black and red thrue driver..

the driver was one i purchased from ebay about a year ago..
The two solder points stating LD- og LD+ by each other and where i have connected the two pins, is likely wrong..I just find an seller with an driver that looks very much like mine, states minus as the bottom solder joints, ewen thow it says LD- at the top
445 450nm 1 6W 2W Laser Diode Driver 1 8A Boost Circuit | eBay

I think the LD- that i have soldered two here. http://1drv.ms/242Alro is wrong it likely needs to be this solder-joint on the back where there is just an line. http://1drv.ms/1SMK1CR

It seems the driver is capable of 1.8A with petinometer (likely spelled wrong) but i notice that people useally put some load on there driver to check and adjust the Amps before hooking it up to diodes.
atm dont got that equipment, its in transit, breadboard & resistors but got an USB 1A & 2A load. (those cheap ones on Ebay that cost a litle over a buck shipped) but thats likely overkill in checking & adjusting the driver with some kind of load before hooking it up tp this max 1.8A-driver, and 1.8A if its set at that, is safe (600ma pr string)..
is the clockwise downgrading of Amps and anticlockwise upscalling of amps.. is that the general rule on most drivers petonimeters?

Will resolder it, and put the minus LD-pin to the bottom solderjoint and see if that makes the diode come alive in all its glory.

nope that didnt work..

soldered the LD+ solderjoints on the top to the +pin on diode http://1drv.ms/2430pmn and the bottom single solderpoint on the driver to the - pin on diode.. http://1drv.ms/2430uGJ

got no effect, but i have noticed on some of cheap retail-laserpointers that the top solderjoints is welded into one point.

Hmm ' will outsolder an cheap diode and trial & error on that..

the bottom single solderjoint was minus and body, and the solderjoint where i place the spring was + and LD+ & LD- was accordingly..

plugged it up with these two drivers (link) and both did light, ewen thow it was pretty weak 0.3A and petionimeter didnt seem to do much..

will place in holster before, putting more stress on diodes.

just wanted to hear, if these drivers can manage 2x16340 that seems to be the ballpark driving an A M140 445nm diode.

the driver seems to scale a 1x3.7v current up to about +6v..

the details is not much help on these drivers, i purchase them a year or two ago, and some what confusing information since some list it to 3.7v 1x18650 and some 7.4v 2x16340..

can i assume that these drivers can manage both 1x 3.7v or 2x 3.7v and same with this laser diode can that handle 2x3.7v when it comes to the A M140 under 1.8A but juiced up with 2x16340..

Those look to be both boost drivers so they take 1 cell not 2. This is why most people buy known diodes and known drivers so there's no guess work. Most of the time it ends up cheaper in the long run so you don't blow stuff.
