Default Diode question

hey,

So im building a Teenie Burner. I hooked up my diode (a LCC diode) to 3 button cells. The button cells were really drained. Before i hooked up my LD, i tested the button cells to see how many mA they were putting out. They were only putting out around 250mA and then they dropped to 160mA a second later. So i hooked my diode up to see what would happen. It lit really brightly and then it dimmed really fast. So i hooked it up again (pretty smart huh?) and it did the same thing. I bought this diode from dave and he said that these can take 500mA so i dont think this was much of a problem. I have a DMM but i lost the instructions so i dont know how to use diode check :-/ Does anyone know how to test to see if my diode is still good?

thanks

I just tried mine out with brand new LR44's (AG13). They acted the same way. Apparently the LR44's don't have enough in them to power the long closed can. Darn! If you want to use the diodes in a Teeny Burner, we'll have to find you a 10180. Otherwise, we'll have to go "down" to a 16X.

Has anyone run a long open can with the three LR44's?

Peace,
dave

Default Re: Diode question

the lr44s i had lying around had nothing in them. *They were pieces of metal. *I used a different kind of button cell. *Didnt think it mattered as long as it was below the 500mA limit (which it was)

Guess ill start a thread in the BST section. *If i get more than one ill send you one dave *

EDIT: (four letter swear word) i ordered 50 lr44s the other day off of amazon :-/ ;D What am i going to do with all of those batteries?!!? oh well they were only 5 dollars ;D

Don't worry about me. *I have one.

You can always rebuild one of the hosts with a 16X diode from Senkat.

I don't think we've gotten an answer yet about the long open can.

HEY DAY! -- didn't I rebuild yours with a long open can? *Did it work with the LR44's? *Have I even remembered the right name? *:-[

Peace,
dave
