My first DIY laser went a bit wrong when the diode pin fell off which is the negative. Any way to fix it?

Good news is that as the can of the LD is isolated so you can clean up the stub and the brass around it, put some flux on the area then melt some solder so that it bridges across to the can you now have a can negative module that can take the earth return through the flashlight body....assuming you are using a flashlight ;)

So, i solder over the broken pin and will the negative lead on the driver still work or will the case be the negative.

You can use the spare pin as your neg as it will give better mechanical support.......

Wow its bright but i lasted 50 seconds because the driver was 320mA instead of 119mA. which should of been 300mW of 405nm

Yeah . . . . . .

But wasn't it purty for those 50 seconds ?

I have seen >300mW of blu-ray and hope to do so again.

Oops :(...Oh well start again, it is all part of the learning curve. The part of the curve you have reached is the knee, right where it hurts ;)

Its weird it goes from 380mA and goes to 290mA slowly but it was cool

Hey there should be a blu-ray >300mW club to replace the 6x club

So you got to watch it die, eh?

The problem with a >300mW club is that the membership would be so transient.

You were only in the club for 50 seconds! I didn't even get your name tag filled out yet :D

My first project was a DIY test load.
I call it my, "sacrificial diode", as it took the punishment so the others won't have to! ;)

Hey it's better than belonging to the it-got-fried-before-I-even-got-to-see-it-light-up club.
