Default diode in aixiz module?

hello,
i gently installed a blueray diode into an aixiz module, using a hobby vice and very small socket as a tool to press the diode into the aixiz.
it seemed to seat ok, but it looks to the eye like the diode is a just little bit cockeyed in the aixiz.
the diode is just below the flush surface of the module, which i understand is correct from other reading i have done.

so my question is just how perfect does it have to be seated? as i said, it isnt that bad, but i can see it isnt quite perfectly seated.
i thought about trying to push on the edge of the diode that is a bit high, but dont want to damage it.
is there anything else to make a good tool to use to seat the diodes?
from the videos i have seen of diodes being seated, it doesnt look like people pay much attention to exactness of seating.
thanks

I suppose the question is: are you able to use the diode's output in a proper way?
I mean, does it still hit the optics OK, and you are able to focus it to a nice dot?
Then I guess it's OK.
Or is a substantial part of the diodes ouput cut off, due to the misalignment?

Oherwise, pics might help to determine if it is too crooked or OK.

sorry, i dont have a camera that will take really good pics up close. yes, the end result is optics.
this is a simple question about diode installation to someone who has done it before.

The best way to tell is to focus the laser with the lens that came with the module.
If it is too far out of line you'll know it by the spot shape and size.

If you are bothered by the alignment just adjust it a little to center the diode in the module. When seating mine I kept adjusting to correct for this, it is tedious. I also seated mine like Jayrob "flush" and it was easy for me in this respect to keep it aligned.

lightfoot, if the diode needs to come back out that can be done! Flaminpyro sells a diode remover (I bought one just in case) that is nice and will do the job without hurting the diode. Check out his stuff and PM him. He ships real fast as well. By the way he sells some very nice silicone wire for builds and good flux too! Sorry for the sales pitch but he has good stuff!

Thanks for your comments. will definitly check out flaminpyro's tools.
Tonga, when you say you adjusted the diode to center it, was that with a vice and a tool to push down on the diode, like i was using a tiny socket?
or were you using something to push on just push the high side down a little? so what was your technique for centering?
all the tutorials on diode installation i have seen just say, push the diode in place, with out going into troubleshooting steps.
is there a good tutorial that you know of?
thanks

Default Re: diode in aixiz module?

lightfoot, I noticed that while I was pressing the diode in that it wasn't exactly going in exactly like I thought it should. I was using a press tool (that I got from Modwerx) and high magnification and going real slow with my vise and I could see that it was moving in slightly off. What I did was continually readjust the tool by basically tipping it away from the side that was going in too far until it was perfectly flush. Probably took me about 10 minutes of pressing and adjusting to get it in. I had no idea it was going to work like this and even my 2nd diode went the same way. I have not found any tutorials on this problem and I searched to make sure I didn't screw anything up first. I don't want the diode off axis and lasing crooked and don't know any other way to seat them other than what I did. It would be nice to have a tool that would seat straight on axis without this worry and get the job done more quickly. Maybe the pros have some secrets to doing it right!
Good luck man.
