I was fishing for whether the SL driver was capable of working correctly on one sell. And yes the nano obviously works great for this diode. I don't think 1.25a would hurt this diode but the SL driver in question makes me curious. I feel the voltage range in the spec is dumbed down intentionally, the charged voltage of 4.2 1s and 8.4 2s. If I use 1 cell and the load sags the v to 4v is the driver still regulating amperage or is it too low a voltage. Or does it not buck the voltage down below 4.2v. There is headroom between the 4.2v and the max 2.7vf.

I agree with your recommendation as others have , I as well, the module you can't go wrong. But what specific driver from SL did you use in the mishap?
Not that I'm building another red. More interested with the whys and how's.

Actually thinking this through, I think the reason it died was not driver choice, it's because I briefly hooked it directly to the battery before I knew better, something you should never do because diodes will pull more and more power until they kill themselves from overheating.
