LOC diode 10$
driver 25$
aixiz module 5$
lens 10$
batteries 5-10$
charger 15$
Those are the basics, but you will also need a heatsink, and a host. Those prices can vary alot.
Also you will need goggles for red lasers. 15$. Before you ask. Yes, you will need them.

A LOC can put out 250+mw with a normal lens, so they are very dangerous. Be careful, and wear goggles.

Buy a green one. They cannot be built by amateur hobbyists.

Read the stickies. The commonly used techniques around here ARE the cheapest way.

I suggest you read A LOT more before you call yourself ready to own such a device.

Be looking for the best place to find safety goggles first.

You can knock around $19 off that price if you build your own DDL driver. The Aixis module comes with a "standard" lens, so there is another $10 off.
My average cost to build a 650nm burner is around $26. But that is buying parts in bulk and lots of practice.
i was actually thinking about this video:

YouTube - DIY: How to Modify a Green Laser Pointer into a Burning Laser

it seems EXTREMELY easy to do and cost not much. but i want to hear from you guys to, please post
By the time you buy the 5mW pointer and the burning module, you would have paid as much as just buying a higher powered one in the first place.

well i would buy one but customs are getting more and more strict every day so id rather no take a chance. so i think this video is the best iv heard so far because its basically very easy. i dont know shit about saughtering or building your own drivers or anything like that. in the video you only have to desaughter a little and saughter a bit.u dont even need experience to do what he did in the video. so thats why i think the video i found is better than all your responses. no offence though I still want to hear some ideas

1. Doing what is done in the video will cost alot more, wont have heatsinking, and wont burn as good as what we've suggested.
2. If you want a high powered green you can buy from reputable companies, like nova, that guarantee your laser will get through customs, and they will be much higher quality than any module from DX.
3. It's spelled solder.

Unless you live in Australia, the chances of customs getting your one laser are almost nothing. Order from O-like or Rayfoss and you will get the laser.
I have bought (and received) over 100 without any problems.
BTW: poor soldering skills are how most noob's kill their lasers.

I was thinking about buying this: New Style red laser 200mW /adjustable [OLNRL200] - $44.99 : Welcome to O-Like.com, Your source for laser products

or is there a better one for no more than 50 bucks? also does anyone have a discount coupon for o like? thanks
