Default Can you figure this out?

This Module came out of a homemade gun sight or one that someone modified, Anyway it tests at 169mw 532nm it is super bright. It takes two CR123A batterys, so it is working on 6 volts, But the driver board is two different boards with some extra stuff added, the boards are soldered together. Can you make any green module higher output by uping the volts or what exactly does it take to get about 170mw output. Or I guess what would be the easiest way to reach the output?

I'm a bit confused... why do you need to boost the output
of your green laser by 1mW.....

It is a bit difficult to see details of your PCB... but it looks
like a boost driver... or maybe a Buck at that input voltage...
It also has a hefty Power resistor...

To get ~170mW, the module likely uses a 1W 808nm pump diode. This is aligned with the bonded Nd:YVO4/KTP pair.

However, if it was modified I'd bet that's not all 532nm output.

I do not want to increase this module, I want to build others like it. So I was wanting to know the power output vs the increase in volts this one uses 6 volts, & most use 3 volts. Can I get the same output with 3 volts? Is there a post for green modules and drivers? Can a cheap green module be reworked to give more output?

Yea I never seen one like it before I had to take off the black shrink wrap to veiw it then I seen it had the other board added to it, it looks like one that came out of a led flashlight. I will try to get some better pics.

Driver has nothing to do with power output. All the driver does is take the source voltage and converts it to a voltage and current the diode tolerates. It's just a DC-DC converter regardless of how 'fancy' it looks.

No you can't take a 'cheap green' and rework it cost effectively to get more power out of it. The power output from DPSS is tied to the crystals/pump Not the driver.. It's the reason 'pot modding' is pointless.

Thank You for the info that helps alot, So can one Make A high output DPSS 532nm at A reasonale cost? And if so is it very hard to accomplish?

Hey robert... the easiest way to do what you want
is to buy pre-assembled 532nm DPSS modules that
already have the crystals aligned properly...
Similar to this that come with a driver and you only
need to supply 3.0VDC to 4.2VDC...
O-Like has 532nm Modules of many powers as do
some other sellers....

That's the route I would take...

With any DPSS.. you get what you pay for. If you start with a cheap module, you get a low output. Reliable high power DPSS lasers cost more because getting more power out of them takes more time, care, and better quality parts.

Those are OEM Modules and not fully fully functioning
Lasers... They are only a part to make a working Laser...
