I have a couple of C-6s that I bought and they are just sitting around right now, and I saw the tutorial on here about how to write a C-6 contact board using a screw-head and plumber stopper however I saw a link someone posted to cnqualitygood and was wondering if either of these would work inside the pill instead of having to go through to trouble of cutting the screw and getting the stoppers (no hardware store and no tools to cut metal here).

I'd appriciate any wisdom that could come my way, and if anyone has ever used one of these boards.

You should use the version without the spring. Solder the wires to negative and positive contact point and lead them thru the pill.
The round board must be soldered to a brass ring and pressed it into the pill of the C6.

If you have an old piece of circuit board, with one side coated with copper for the contacts, you can mark out a 17 mm circle and cut it roughly with a hacksaw. You then use sand paper to smoothen it out and make a nice round disc. Once thats done you scrape off the excess copper from around the outside ie leave a small circle of copper in the middle which serves as your contact. If the board doesnt have any holes drill a 1 or 2 mm hole in the centre and pass the stripped, pre-soldered tip of a wire from the back side (non copper side) through to the copper side. You can then solder a small blob to secure the wire for the positive contact on the board. Make sure the height of the "blob" is not too great as you will loose space for the batteries. I dont pick up the negative on the board itself but from the brass ring in a C6 host. If you wanted to carefully make a second ring on the outside of the board though, you could do that for the negative contact, but you must make sure the copper trace doesnt touch the centre and that it contacts the outside of the host for proper electrical contact.

I have done this in several builds where I didnt have a round driver with contacts and it worked perfectly. Sorry I dont have any pics but if you need more info Ill try to take some. This is a very cheap / easy solution and requires very few tools! (Made my first one with only a leatherman and soldering iron...)

Good luck

Thanks to both of you, some great info.

One more stupid question since i cant tell just from looking at it, does the lip on the copper ring go down towards the driver or up towards the diode?

The smaller diameter side of the ring goes first into the pill. You must solder it to the pcb first before you pressed the assembly into the pill.
