How many mW would you need to burn normal printer paper? When I say burn I mean like setting it on fire not just making some smoke and burning a hole in it.

Thanks! :D

Could 1w work?

Searching the forum for answers takes only a few seconds. Try typing "ignite white paper" down on the search bar. I guarantee you that you will find the answer to your question.

If you are too lazy to do it then I'll go ahead and say that 1W will ignite white paper.

I have already searched the forum before posting this and all of the previous threads were asking what mw was required to burn a hole in paper, not set it on fire. But thanks anyway :)

I dont think its being rude, its people not knowing how to properly use the search function and then relying on the rest of us to spoon the answers their way.

I made a thread about how to use the search function and no one uses it.......BTW there are two SEPARATE search functions; one works well, one sucks......everyone uses the one that sucks and then complains "i searched but didnt get my answer" Well thats because you didn't search correctly.

Spoon feed someone and they will rely on you for their life, give them the tools to survive and they will flourish on their own. Ill stick to the second one ;)

Yeah we all suffer from it. I mean i think i did it with a few of you guys; possibly you a few times. It all depends on the question and our moods. Its not wrong to spoon feed every now and then ESPECIALLY when it comes to safety questions but I also want members to grow and learn about lasers and spoon feeding isnt learning. Its like a cheat sheet on a test, yes you got the answers but do you remember the info after the test? Nope

You can burn paper with 1Watt laser. Focus the dot to a tiny point and make circular motion around the first burn mark. The blackened edge will absorb the heat much better and accelerate the burning of the paper.
Also some paper are easier to burn than others. You have to try various papers to find the best that works for you.

I must say this though.

I love how we use the words "spoon-feeding" It always gets me laughing.
