Cool Building a 2W 445 Laser?

Hello all,
So I've been doing a lot of research on building lasers but I'm not sure I'm just about ready yet . I have a few questions. First off and probably my main question is, if there is a 1W laser..can the diode be switched out for a 2W, and increase the current for the output to actually be 2+ Watts?
If I can provide the diode, is someone willing to build the laser for me?
I've read on many occasions that a 1.3W+ laser can be built for $100. If this is the case, should I be able to build or get one built for that price if I specify which diode and where to get it? Of course if someone were to build it, I'd pay for their time and work put into it.
Any help would be more than appreciated. very much.

Jayrob has big maglite flashlight with heatsinks. You can buy driver and tell him how much current it takes. It cost more than 100dollars for sure, all you need to do is solder diode on it and its working. Check up laser pro shop theard

Before you start making these decision, you really should read some more. Read at least the stickies in the 445nm board

I would also recommend reading the Buy/Sell/Trade board and the Laser Pro Shop board to see what is available

You are asking questions that are easily answered by reading what is available to you.

For example -- The "1W" diodes and the "2W" diodes that you are referring to are THE SAME diodes

If you are thinking about operating a 2W, hand-held laser, you really should understand what you have in your hand.

Peace,
dave

Also push these diodes to 2W output in a hand-held laser, IMHO I don't see it very good idea, if you want your laser diode have a long life.

And that's assuming that all is everything well thought out and mounted. A very good heatsink, good optics, and so on.

There are some forum members that have made hand-held laser of 2W, but them are experienced and are aware of what it means to push these diodes to give those powers.

And usually the ones doing it can rebuild them when/if the laser fails in a very short time for just the cost of the diode

We do not have to pay someone else to repair it or wait for shipping both ways

Peace,
dave
