Well I was doing a teardown of my laser, and I accidentally popped the wires off the diode. In the picture, I assume the one with the black spot at the bottom of the wire is negative, but would like a second opinion so i dont blow it up.

If you can contact the supplier to get the polarity right you can solder it back on your own. Also don't power it on without a load it can damage the driver. If you have the diodes info you can look it up.

Is this laser a 532nm?

That looks like a 9mm can, and I am just assuming that it is a 532.
That would mean that the diode is a 808nm IR diode.

If it is a 808nm IR diode, the diode would be case positive, making the pin with the black insulator the negative. ;)

hah well, it's a good thing you tore it down then, cuz you can now solder the wires nicely so they don't pop off again (bad workmanship)...

yes, Nick is right :beer:, if that's an IR diode - case is positive and the negative is the one that's isolated!

also if you are not very sure check if there is continuity between the driver's positive output (where the diode connects) and battery's positive terminals -> they should be continuous.
