Blue Ray Pins?

I am totally lost as to which pins to solder wires to on my b lue ray diode. At least I think its a blue ray... It was sent to me from Jake as refund for my broken blue ray pointer I got.

Well I have gotten as far as taking it out the heatsink and cleaning it up but from what I read, blue rays are supposed to have 5 pins, the diode I have only has 3, like a red diode...

Do some blue ray diodes only have 3 pins? and if so what pins should I solder to?

You assumed I knew the name of the diode I had, dont jump to conclusions.

I did search and it came up with hundreds of results as I had no idea what diode I have.

this is for a red one but its almost the same.

instead of using the pin on the right for - (neg) use the bottom pin(marked not used) and you can cut out the middle pin

I am sorry for beeing rude, but having about 900 posts I supposed that you knew that there are currently 3 kinds of BR diodes commonly in use on this forum. The PS3 one, which you eliminated from the choices yourself, the phr803T and the 4x/6x Burner one. Since I thought the 6x would have been to expensive, I came to the conclusion that you would know the name of the diode. If I am honest, I supposed you where to lazy to search for it yourself. :-[ I am sorry for thinking too fast, but that kinda happens often at the moment that the same basic questions get asked over and over again.(I am not reffering to your question specificly)

Here's an old one.  We know now that the "photo diode" pin is actually a case pin.

Reason for this post is I usually buy lasers online instead of building my own, I only recently decided to build a DIY red after my DVDRW stopped working so despite the amount of posts I have I know virtually nothing about diy builds.

Two main lasers I buy are pre built from DL or scanners.

Don't worry about it anyway.

huh :-? He gave you a broken laser and refunded you a LD? Was it in a sled? I'm confused as of how this suffices as a refund. :-/

Yeah, I read some of that thread and the just I got from it was Jake=LPF's China ;D But, I never personally dealt with him so I should just :-X

Well, since you have accept it, which is all that matters, the way I've remembered the pins for the blu-ray diode is as follows:

*
+ * * -

just as everybody else has already said ;D You can also buy a kit:

This is the driver I personally prefer to use:
http://www.laserpointerforums.com/forums/YaBB.pl?num=1206947255/0#0
but other like to use this one:
http://www.laserpointerforums.com/forums/YaBB.pl?num=1209418066/0#0
And I use these heatsinks:

with selected hosts from DX and correct batteries!
