With this driver, you have to have at least 5V for reds, and 7V for blu-rays. For a blu-ray, set the driver to 150mA and you will have around 140mW. With a 16x red from StoneTek, set it to 300mA-350mA and you will have around 200mW.
If you want to use 2 AAA, then use these batteries:

http://www.batteryjunction.com/10440.html

The driver can take a maximum of 12V, and these batteries can go up to 4.2V fully charged.

An AixiZ module.
You could use a pen host with 2 AAA size 3.7V batteries.
Of course a 200mW BR will burn better than a 140mW.
But if you set the current to 200mA for a PHR-803T than your diode will die.
If you buy a 6x from AMK, you can easily get 200mW by setting it to 200mA, but i recomend setting it to 180mA, and it will lov you forvever

Try starting to learn by reading the "stickys" in each board. If you want to learn something about blu-ray, read the stickys in the blu-ray board. If you want to learn about red diodes, read the stickys in the red board.

Peace,
dave

thanks so much. one more question does a 200mW red laser burn more or less than a 140mW blue ray? ive heard blue rays burn more at lower mW's compared to other lasers just due to beam diameter?

This current is fine for the 16X RED diode.

Default Re: blue ray and 16x dvd lasers help

Sorry for asking again, but is "the 16X RED diode" not the same thing as a red laser diode from
a 16X DVD-burner?

Or why do other people run their DVD-diodes with a maximum current of 150mA, if
you tell me 300mA would be fine?
