Hey,
I screwed the tail cap back on yesterday like I normally do but now I cannot open it...
Has anyone had this issue? I didn't turn it that tight.. I've tried with clothe around it as well (hands are sore) and do have any adjustable spanners that is bug enough.

Thanks

Sounds like you may have cross threaded the cap when you put it back on. I've never had the issue but I'm thinking a couple pairs of pliers or small pipe wrenches would get it apart. Use some rubber or cloth between the tools and the laser to protect the host finish. There is a good chance you striped the threads when cross threading. This may cause it to thread on incorrectly from now on. You might be able to fix this somewhat with a tap and die set.

Try WD-40 or another lubricant. Spray some in the threads if you can. If you get some where the cap meets the body some of it may creep in there.
I've used WD-40 to un-jam some threads before.

A gentle application of heat and a pair of rubber (dishwashing) gloves might sort out your problem. Could even just be a chip of aluminum in the threads.

Apply heat to the cap while you cool to the rest of the host.

Do you know someone with a lathe? If you chuck up the tailcap (not too tight) and then lock it you can apply as much force as you like unscrewing it.
I have one that the tailcap didn't want to come off of (stainless) and that worked for me.
I had to chuck it up, tap on the threads all the way around with a brass hammer (no scratches), lock the chuck to keep it from turning (crescent wrench on one of the jaws works) and both hands with a piece of silicone sheet around the host for grip. It came off but not without almost all of my strength.
Careful doing this, it is easy to give yourself wry neck. A friend of mine spent 3 days in bed from something similar (messed up chuck in the tailstock)

The very best penatrent to use is KROIL it realy works I have used it for many years 20+
get some of that and a lathe chuck sounds like a fine idea with a rubber sheet around
the body of the laser.
if using your hands dosn't work then you may need to wrap the body in a piece of leather
and get a pipe wrench or some good hook jawed locking pliers like the IRWIN vise grips slip joint pliers.
if the threads are gauled then you may be out of luck, that can happen to any threaded parts when
both sides are made from the same material and it esp happens to aluminum :cryyy:
the best way to prevent this is to lube the threads when they are new,
I use a anti oxident grease made for electrical work.
Good luck.

Remember to use an o-ring safe lube if you want to keep the host waterproof. Some lubricants eat o-rings pretty quick and they can even turn into a messy paste that glues together anything it contacts.
I have used vaseline before but it isn't a good practice.
