Arctic Spyder III safety pin problem

I am posting this again because I posted it in the incorrect forum to begin with.

Hello everyone. I just found these forums and am hoping someone can help me with my problem.

Yesterday, I got my Arctic Spyder III in the mail and was in the process of checking it out when a problem occurred. At first it powered up fine, no problems, then when I turned it off, I was checking out the safety features.

The safety pin that is in the tailcap was very hard to pull out, but I eventually got it out, checked it out and then put it back in. Problem is, now my laser won't power up.

I have traced the problem to this pin. I can check continuity of the tailcap pushbutton with my digital multi meter and the switch never closes, even with the safety pin in.

Has anyone else experienced this and what did you do to fix this, short of sending it back?

thanks

I would take off the shunt plug and check it. Be very gentle with those little 2mm screws!

Sometime the copper contacts are dirty and can be cleaned. Also work the pin in and out a few times to see if you can restore contact, maybe try a little contact cleaner for electronics.

If you get it going again, I recommend against pulling the pin. On a G2 there is really no need.
Check out the reviews in my sig for more info on your Arctic. ;)

Thank you Zapu!

That fixed it. The bottom of the shunt plug had excess paint on it. I cleaned it up with a whetstone and it now it works like a champ. I had not removed it, so I didn't consider it too much. Oh well, thanks again.
