Default Aixiz Lens Removal

Does anyone care to put together a very short and simple tutorial on how to remove acrylic lenses from the aixiz plastic nut? ive destroyed 1 so far, and although its not the end of the world i'd like to keep my remaining few.

I have never done it but I remember Kenom saying that you can just pop the back out by inserting a small screwdriver, or something similar, into the small hole and levering it out...
I would suggest you wind the lens into the Aixiz housing back to front first as it will be easier to hold.

That's how I do it. Make sure to get the blade of the screwdriver down onto (into) the bottom of the "retainer" (down by the lens). If you try to lever it out using the back "aperture", it will rip the back out of it without getting the retainer part out with it.

If all you did was tear the back aperture out, it is still probably good. The "ring" is still in there holding the lens in. Get it out and clean up the opening. It is now an "open backed" lens like we use all the time anyway.

Peace,
dave

Yes. I'm sorry. I couldn't get a good macro shot of it. When you "open the back" of a lens, you are left with just the "retaining" part of the back left in the nut. If you look closely at it, you can see the joint running all the way around the nut. That part comes out. You need to pry it up by getting the blade of the screwdriver into or under that ring. Then you can push the lens out and pop in a new one. The ring is just friction fitted in there. You just push it back in when you've replaced the lens.

Peace,
dave

Which part are you having trouble with -- the placing of a small screwdriver into the hole -- or how to pry up with it?

Have you tried it yet?

Peace,
dave

So I have now "tried" it three times, and instead of the expected results of the insides "popping" the outside black plastic RING (where I am inserting my screwdriver to pry) breaks off. *

So after re-reading this thread I finally figured it out. Your screw driver really needs to go down closer to the lens, and pry against the wall, rather than the "lip" Once you do it, you will see how easy it is.

Now, any tips on how to get a sled lens in its place? It is SIGNIFICANTLY smaller..

Normally i use a bit of heat.
Only lightly not to much.

I want the nensnut at about 50 degrees, to make the lensnut joint less tight.

For the removment i use ascrewdriver.

Then a round rasp and sandpaper to grind it to nice surface.

!!!Press the screwdriver easily in the lensnut that you not glide from!!!

Maybe some Pictures help:

For the Small FL lens you can use the Lensnut ring normally.
If glue is recuired use no "seconds glue" use 5 minute epoxy.

Normally with the round side to diode, and remove the originallens.
That make the distance between lens and diode that small that needed for small fl.

Default Re: Aixiz Lens Removal

those tricks didnt work. the ring is stuck that hard, i would only tear pieces out of it with a small screwdriver. i already thought it was glued in..

easiest way possible:
push it out!

screw the lens (oriented as usual, pinhole inside) into the module until its flush (so there is still some space between the pinhole and the casing inside) and push the lens in! i used a regular plastic pen, so it was a relative soft, round area to push in. after some good pressure (5 kg?) it snapped out, quite loudly! and, magic, no scratches on the lens! i now tread all lenses like this, but put a piece of tissuepaper in between. you never know..

i hope its understandable?
