aixis housing - how to remove white glue

I'm working on my first build, and ran into a problem. The aixis housing I bought (directly from the company) came with some rubberized glue to hold the wires in place. Unfortunately it also covers the diode, so I need to remove the glue to remove the diode. I wasn't sure if there was a chemical way to do this or not, but I haven't come across anyone with the same problem.

use a knife and just scrape it off. it comes off easy enough.

It sounds like you bought a 5mw 650nm aixiz module, they all have white glue stuff in there around the driver & diode.

Ok thanks. I was trying to save the diode that came with it but I guess I don't care that much. I do have another question though. I'm using a prh-803t, and I've read that the aixis lens doesn't screw in far enough to focus a 405nm beam. Is it possible to cut down the lens so that it effectively screws in farther? i.e. remove the threads at the bottom so the lens is close rot the diode.

^Not really worth it to save the diode. I just hammer it out with a punch. The phr sled has another low power red diode in it anyway if you ever need one, or just order extra red modules in the first place.

As far as the violet focusing issue, that shouldn't be a problem with the Aixiz. That's the biggest problem with some modules from DX where the threads don't go all the way to the bottom. It can also be a problem when you have the silver focusing ring on the lens, you may have to take off the focusing ring, but probably not. Also, make sure you press the diode ALL the way into the module. Not just flush, but the diode actually has to go in farther than flush, it should actually be a little recessed into the module. I'm sure someone will be along with a picture to describe it better. If you have the diode pressed all the way into the housing (again, not just flush with the back of the module) and you're not using the DX modules which aren't threaded all the way to the bottom (which you say you're not), then focusing shouldn't be a problem for you.
