seams extremely high to me for a 20x. i run a LG 22x at 420mA and have heard of people pushing 450mA. Not saying it isnt possible to push a 20x to 600mA but the life duration would most likely dramatically be reduced.

the image below is of a LG 22x open can that died at 590mA in a few minutes.

By accident, I've been running my LPC-815 at 660mA for a couple of minutes total two days ago. No clear idea how it happened, I guess the pot on the FlexDrive got moved when I assembled the AixiZ. I noticed how the spot looked unusually bright, also the Aixiz got rather hot within a few seconds... I've now turned it down to 420mA again.

Yeah, i saw the vid some time ago and wondered if he really was diving it at 600ma. The highest i've ever gone is 480ma and its still goin strong but 600ma!? Just sounds like certain death to me

Anyone wanna try it

It's my friend c4r0, we both were running these diodes at 600mA and still, nothing happened. He is using his diode for a homemade CNC Ploter working perfectly.

Anyway, these diodes die at about 800mA.

How much do they cost??????

They are from h55L/n DVD rewriters, I don't know the cost, but here in Poland you can buy "not working" DVD writers for about 1-2$ each.

do you have any idea what the mW output is?

If it's an LG drive, it's probably a Mitsubishi diode, since that's what is normally used. Is it an open-can or closed-can?

Yeah I thought it was pretty crazy. I plan to buy one myself soon and I've heard of people pushin it up to about 485ma. The vid said it was putting out 400-500mW of power which is INSANE haha. About how high is the most someone would want to push one of these diodes but still have a reasonably long life expectancy?

Hello!
I'm the video guy :) I've been using three of these diodes in my laser ploter ( vid, vid, vid, vid, description ) for a long time, each at 600mA. Only one of them died when I tried to cool it with a peltier module, I don't know what happend actually ... I measured one of these modules and it puts out 230-240mW (collimation with acrylic lens) - see the attached photo. For comparison, my result for 16x DVD diode @250mA in Aixiz housing is 130-140mW. It's a long die open can diode (you can see a picture at the beginning of the video so I don't understand why you ask :| ), and it really needs heatsink.

I have been running my LOC in a Kryton barrel powered by a flexdrive@510ma for a couple months now, with quite heavy usage.

It is outputting just shy of 300mw, 296 to be exact, through an aixiz acrylic. I need a better lend. :cryyy:

These LOC diodes are tough customers, very sturdy LDs.
