532nm repair?

I purchased the following laser from Lazerer.com a few months ago.

LZCR - 532nm 200mW High Power DPSS Green Laser Pointer

It only lasted a few weeks before it stopped working. Now instead of emitting the expected green beam, only a faint red light is visible, and only with the focal lens removed. I'm assuming that means it's a problem with the DPSS system, but my understanding of lasers is lacking. I just wanted to know if this is something that can be repaired and how much it would cost. I've contacted Lazerer but never heard back. If it can't be repaired, can it be converted to a different wavelength? And for how much? Any assistance is greatly appreciated.

Do not look at that dot! it is infrared and can harm your eyes without your knowledge! your laser frequency doubling crystal must have moved out of place so when it sends the 1064nm IR beam it doesn't double in frequency(when frequency doubles, wavelength is cut in half) and it never is converted to 532nm green. I advise not to use that laser anymore. Do not buy from lazerer anymore either. Their service and quality has sharply declined lately.

Actually 1064nm IR is completely invisible to the eye, what you are seeing is 808nm IR, a faint red. This means that the entire DPSS system of your green laser has either moved or heated/cooled out of the crystals' operating range, thus the 808nm is coming out of the laser. BE VERY CAREFUL WITH IR!!! Your laser is very likely outputting 300mW+ of IR. To fix this, you'd have to take the laser apart and adjust the position of the crystals. If it's a heating/cooling problem then I'm not too sure, try it when its room temperature and well ventilated. Good luck

Yeah, it was probably a bad idea to look at it, but I didn't look at a direct angle and only did it once several weeks ago when it first stopped working, so I don't think I did any damage. But yeah, felt kinda dumb afterward.

Well... any laser over 5mW of output power will damage your eyes. If you looked right into the 808nm IR beam, I'd say you have some eye damage. Perhaps not enough to warrant an emergency or panic, but I'd say see a doctor just to make sure

Did you drop the laser or it on something? cause the crystal has moved out of place. And if you arent confident on realigning the crystal, i recommend asking for a replacement or refund, or getting a trustworthy member here at LPF to fix it.

Not directly into the beam. Probably about a 45-degree angle or more. And it was well over a month ago so I'm not really worried. Haven't had any vision loss, headaches, etc.

It was never dropped to my knowledge. But the night before it stopped working I did leave it downstairs out of its case where a roommate could have potentially damaged it. And yeah, since I never heard back from Lazerer, I was hoping that there would in fact be a trustworthy member here willing to attempt a repair, or even just take a look. Compensation would be provided, of course.

In that case, try Daguin, Blord, etc. There's plenty of trusted members on here who are willing to do that for you, some for almost no cost too

Awesome. Kinda new around here. Is just PMing them about it out of the blue acceptable etiquette?

Well, try reading all of the stickies at the top of each subforum and you'll get piles and piles of information. Also, use the search bar at the bottom of the page  good luck

I had a 200mw green too and the same thing happened. I also looked at the dot but that was before I went here. I got no damage (I didn't actually know) but I can't fix it. It's a green laser 302 that has "GREEN LASER 302" printed with white. Nobody else has this laser but my problem is similar to yours. Can someone help me?

I think the problem was the pump or something. Mine started out good, then started flashing wildly, then not working. Did you have the same problem?

You looked into the IR beam? You probably have eye damage then.
