so, my batteries drained like normal, I put a fresh pair in my laser from the charger, and nothing but a dull blue led.

Charged up my old batteries and put them in same thing, I left the batts in the laser for about 1 hour and came back, it worked!.

I checked my batts on my DMM they are charging to 4.1v! is this overcharge affecting my driver, it is a Jib77 driver at 1.3ish amps

So this issue seems to happen more and more when i change batts, so I figure its the contact plate or my charger, any suggestions?

It's not over charge, they should normally be charged up to 4.20 V.

Yours are not being charged enough. Possibly they are lower quality batteries which already suffered loss of capacity through a lot of current drainage.

Also, change your thread title, what the hell does "445 problems mdx host" mean?
You've got four hundred fourty-five problems? :D

Re: 455 problems mdx host

well, I am closer I tapped the host old fonzy style and low and behold it works, seems like something from the driver to the battery side is not making good contact, the problem is I have no idea how to get the battery plate that is connect to the back side of the driver out. :)

Or the driver for that matter, its in its pill with its heatsinks and the heatsinks are glued to the pill with what looks like bathroom caulk :p and I think the pill is press fit not much to grab on though.

I need to see whats going on between the driver and the battery contact plate.

looks like a very good build right until you look at the battery contact plate though, and I find it hard to think the same person soldered the diode and the battery plate cause its like night and day.

ANY way its a MDX old style host, and its got a direct press diode heatsink threaded for aixis lens. A LM???? driver looks like from jib77, using 3.6v 123 li-ion x2,

What I lack in laser info I am good at electronics but I need to get the damn driver out first to see whats up.

I will post pics but my have nothing but a crappy usb camera and its too grainy to be of help.

I absolutely love the laser but I dont want to have to tap it like an old tv to get it to work.

thanks, now i know, AND knowing is half the battle, go Joe!

trying to get some good pics to see if anyone knows a no breaky way of pulling the driver, but the drivers heatsinks could be touching the back of the diode heatsink, going to isolate the 2 and see if it helps, been working fine all day though. I hate intermittent issues its like gremlins just when you think you fix them bamn!
