If you buy that one I think you're overpaying.

You can get a better price here: BDR-S06J 12x Blu-Ray burner lens(500+mW) [M0019] - $51.99 : Modwerx Shop

If you're new to lasers (and building lasers), I'd suggest you start with a lower power laser, like an PHR or a 6X if you're looking for blu-ray. For red, try a LPC-815. They are cheaper, so if you mess it up it won't cost you too much. Also, it's better to start with a lower power laser for safety reasons.

The first thing you should buy is a pair of laser safety goggles. Try dragon lasers, pretty good quality and a good price.

If you need some guidance on how to get started building your own laser, check the links in my sig.

That will cover you for:
405nm Violet
445nm Blue
532nm Green

So I'd say it's a good pair of glasses for your purposes.

Hey, I was thinkin about doing what this guy was about to, I just need to know a little info about what kind of driver I'm going to need?

The micro boost from drlava would be an excellent choice is you're building a hand-held. If you're building a labby, a linear driver would work too.

Sorry noobish question here... what is a labby , and what is a linear driver? i thought linear means to take power direct from the battery
