2 Diode Host Kits are going to be offered for now.

The kit may also include 2 32650 and compatible chargers if enough people are interested.

2 Diode Kits will likely cost around $200 as there is quite a bit of precision milling involved in my design. (Price may fluctuate)

The Body of the Host is going to be a 2D Maglite, mainly for the ease of interchangeable different colored barrels, as well as for the side clicky. Let me know what color you want.

Let me know if you are interested in purchasing one before I go through with ordering the supplies.

This picture is mainly for reference to the head design. The rest is going to be updated this week, and I will post accurate photos:

Maglite Battery Tube not shown since I don't yet have the tube to draw in. The dimensions of the complete head though are ~2.5" Diameter and 4.75" long.

Haha I've been debating pictures, as I have a feeling if I post the designs someone may run with them...

I'll try to get you some pictures tonight. I have a lot of design changes that I haven't updated yet in my model. I can at least get you a shot of the head design.

Same deal goes for others as well, but interested buyers only. I'm not PMing everyone pictures just so they can go, "Ya, looks cool, but I'm not interested in a 3-diode kit."

I understand where you're coming from, but I think you're going to have a hard time getting people interested if they can't see how it works and looks.

True, and unless your going to patent it, the design is out there right after you sell just one. Your going to have to depend on LPF'ers to not copy it; established sellers don't seem to do that, and not a lot of us have precision milling tools. Your probably safe to post pics.

I'd be interested as well, but I'd want to see what I'm paying for.

I might be interested, pending pictures :)

No mirrors? How will that work? If combining 3 diodes of the same wavelength you have to knife edge at some point.

Also, for multi colour ones will there be extra buttons to shut off the individual colours?

Fair enough. I think I can trust people not to copy... hopefully. I'll get pictures up within a few days. Need some revisions to the CAD model. As for button, I am not sure about that, I'm just going to build them as 3 diode for single wavelength for now, and once things are going smooth, and I'm not so swamped with builds, then we can discuss that. As for the lack of mirrors, here is a concept picture:
Untitledsdf.png

Please note that the design I will be building will not have all the fancy brass accents, nor will it have a copper heatsink block... for now... There are some other design changes such as adding the face of the laser head to the heatsink block itself, bolting it to the laser head, and adding a specialized driver mounting ring that will have 3 flat surfaces milled into it for perfect driver heatsinking. Also, obviously the battery tube will be a 2D Maglite instead of a custom designed battery tube. Of course you could opt to get a 3D or 4D or whatever # of D's you want. :)

I think your heading in a great direction. Personally I'd want to see a proof of concept build before I spent $400 on this. Looks good though.

Re: Feeler: 3 Diode 6W+ Host Kits

I understand that completely. I also don't want to invest too much time in money in building them if no one is going to buy them, so right now, I'm basically establishing a list of customers who will take one assuming they work.

New images up! If you are interested in buying a kit, please post and let me know how many people are going to be interested, as I'm not going to be building a pile of these and then selling them. Built to order, first come, first serve.

How will this work without mirrors?

You should only need 2 PBS cubes. The first two modules are perpendicular to each other, and once combined, that beam will be perpendicular to the third module.

I wouldn't think that would work,
once 2 beams are combined by a pbs, they aren't polarized any more

mabye I'm missing something...
