I bought a new 1.2w 445nm Yobresal build, on the forums from Yobresal. Recently it has been having trouble turning on though. I have been fairly careful to follow the duty cycle. Its strange sometimes when I hit the clicky it turns on sometimes it doesn't. more often then not it doesn't turn on, taking out the batteries and putting them back in seems to sometimes help.

Anyways I was just curious if anyone else is having this problem, and if there's any ideas to what it could be that's wrong with it.

Also any good ways to clean the lens without scratching it?

I have had that problem with my Yob. These switches were made for a flashlight, not the amperage of these high-powered diodes.

I took the switch out, disassembled it, cleaned the parts, applied a little di-electric grease to the parts, then reassembled. It has worked great ever since. Just because this worked for me does not mean it will work for you.

If you contact Luke, I'm sure he can help you out. He's awesome at customer service. :)

For the lens, 90+ % alcohol and a cotton swab. Wet one end of the swab. Clean the lens with a rotational motion, then use the dry end to finish up, removing all stray cotton fibers.

I also hear a microfiber cloth works wonders, as well.

I had the exact same problem w/ mine when i got it! At times it would turn on, and other times it wouldn't. I sent it back and he fixed the problem. Though from what he told me, the problem was too much grease on the threads which didn't give a great connection to the body as a ground. Try cleaning some of the grease off the threads, it may help

be careful with the cotton swab... if you get a fiber on there, its nearly impossible to get off :p and luke does provide excellent service, mine was missing an O-ring and he shipped one to me free :) there is a thread about lens cleaning and i heard the foam part of an xbox headphone thingy works very well..

i do encounter the same problem.
the fault for mine case is the contact between the clicky switch and the tail cap body. (hope I get the description rite)
clean the contact between with alcohol and it works ever since.

great laser from Yob i would say.

Thanks for the help guys, I was thinking it was maybe the tail cap/clicky causing the issue.
Seems to work fine if I don't screw the tail cap on all the way.
:thanks:

Also, agreed the laser is amazing.

That was the same exact problem I had. It was quite frustrating....

if screwing the tail cap a lil loose fixes it. i would snip little portions of the spring. that is, if your laser is for sure out of the "warranty" period.

but snip a little off at a time

I bought my laser fairly recently, so the laser should still be.
I PM'ed Yob, to see what he thinks.

Hm, seems like the problems I've had.

When you remove the tailcap, look where the spring with the connection is. You should see an aluminium ring with two holes in it. Use a tweezers or something, and rotate the ring (by the holes) clockwise to tighten it, as hard as you can.

Try again and let us know.

I've had this problem with some Ultrafire 501B lights, where there was too much thread lubricant applied, and basically it stuck between the host itself, and the ring, and when you were to unscrew the tailcap, ring stuck to the host and basically untreaded itself from the tailcap at the same time.

Anyhow, try to tighten it, let us know.

yes this unfortunately has been a common problem with my latest batch. The tailcaps were not assembled tightly causing intermittent connection at time. The solution to this is to unscrew the tailcap removing all parts, toss the smallest black plastic ring, and then TIGHTLY screw the tailcap back together again. Works 90% of the time.

I'll definitely try that when I get home, and I'll let you guys know if that fixes it.
:thanks:
