Would this LD make for a good build?

It's quite low powered for burning but would probably be enough if you want a cheap $10 red or blu-Ray hi-power diode go to daedallasers.com and check out their PHR-803T(Blu- Ray or for red see their 22x burner bare red diode (and they have bare IR diodes as well)
If you want a sled you can get them at *****************.com or modwerx.com

they won't scam you. basicly LPF does not get along with them so it's blocked out.

oh yeah, but you can also try modwerx.com, hightechdealz.com and darklasers.com

all three of those are run by active members here on the forum.

yes, thats a good find! that should easily make the brightest red laser possible, with decent beamcharacteristics (so multimode diodes dont "count"). its not exactly cheap, 120$ for one sample, but with a GB it would go down a good way. i bet the people over at PL will be all over this too! :)
and yes, i would definitely buy from a GB!

I have to pause and ask if it is really 638 nM ( near 633) and can do 120 mW CW. This would be a nice projo beam if it's really at 638 nM.

Mike

I just went there and I don't find this diode.
