Hi everyone.

Not sure if I'm posting in the right place but I would love to know where I can get a laser point that is exactly the same as this one:

I had one of these as a child that I got from Florida. I was just wondering if any of the experts here could point in the direction of getting that same laser pointer?
I've tried ebay or amazon but very little luck outside of generic images. I think it was nameless too in brand.

Anyway, could someone please help me?

I remember seeing those at a dollar store in New Jersey - they are extremely low quality. I know you are probably looking more for nostalgia than function but these are so bad I would really recommend you getting a nicer metal pointer that would actually last more than a few hours of use. Plus without the need for button batteries.

I'm sure people here can direct you where to get a nice 5mW 635nm pen if you'd like to get one.

Yeah, it'd be more for nostalgia...but as a 10 year old with a laser pointer it was sure fun shining this down the street then hiding away.

Could you tell me a little more about the laser you mentioned? I'd be very interested in procuring one. I'm quite suspicious of the ones from ebay and amazon because I don't know if they are genuine lasers or fake ones. A keychain one would be more convenient: can you get keychain laser pointers that are quite strong? Or, certainly stronger than the nostalgic laser pen I posted.

They're your cheapest of the cheap red keychain pointer. They make a red dot for about a block and that's about it. The casing is actually some kind of metalized plastic and the battery cap tends to strip out extremely easy.

Ebay is a good place to get ripped off on laser pointers, but really only on the higher powered ones. Nobody is gonna rip you off for a 5mW keychain pointer like this.

I'd recommend if you want a nice pointer to buy a good quality metal one. I'm not too up to date on what shops have good pointers as I mostly look for the big commercial lasers like in my avatar. I imagine someone else will pop in and recommend a nice one for you.

yeah that pointer will probobly be way underspec. go with lazerer. are you looking for power or visibility?
