Rick if you makes these into kits you will get a ton of business :)

most likely mine :D

Uh oh, world most powerful red on the way :) Looking forward to another amazing build Mr. Trent

Thank you Lazeerer for finding these amazing diodes :thanks:

~ LB
I have a good 4.6A 20mm driver that I use on my 4w 808nm kits ,that I hope will work good ,I would like to shoot 2 in to a cube and get 8w out

I thought all you guys forgot about me.:p

Well i never looked into C-mount builds but i t seemed to me the distance to the lens is pretty big. BUT if you say it i believe it. Got to expand my horizon i believe  :p

greetings,,

Yeah its not hard at all. Really.

When you see a couple C-mount build Ive plain to show with the 1W 650nm diodes you will be like. WHAT Thats it.!

LOL well my setup wont be that basic but the overall setup is super easy.

If you can collimate a green laser from the expander then you can build a C-mount laser.:)

I think it would be nice if you could get people to send you $5 to test just how high they will go tell the blow, that would be a good test , I am going to! lets all help if we all give $5 it would help us all find out the max amps,I know I have payed out over $1000 just in testing max power to get were I am at today in power .

Thanks for the info lazeerer. I'm just wondering why anyone hasn't heard about these diodes until now?

Alright some more news. Guys.

Ha i cant believe it.
I really cant.

The video i shot yesterday right.? When it peaked out at 4.2W on my meter.

Well the funny thing is my meter for some reason has a cut off at that.! Its not letting me go up to 5W.? Could it be that it needs a heatsink on it.? or i need to chance something.? I thought these heads are 50W with heatsink or something.? 5W without.

Can someone with an Ophir head test if theres will hit 5W.

(I have never needed to test something higher then 4W at a time. Even the dual build Ive done i tested the diodes separate and my meter is spot it just tops out at 4.2W or right around that.)

(How do i know this is what it is)?

Well I got excited and decided to test the diode fully so i hooked it up to my 20A power supply.

(You never catch me asking for a murder fund unless it is offered)

So i was shooting you guys a new video right and got up to that same 4.2W Mark. and that was ~ 4.2A or so.

Well Then i took it up to 5A then 5.3A and the power was frozen.!!!!!!

It would not move from that ~4.2W mark.

I further tested that it was not the diode maxing out by 2 3W 445nm laser at it. and again it topped out at 4.2W.

That is hilarious because i was shocked to see a diode frozen in power.

I had that empty look on my face. Like Huh.?

I can tell that the power was increasing a lot because the room was getting brighter.!

Iam looking around now to see if i can find some filter or glass or something i can use to cut the power down and do a rough estimate of the max iam getting at the increase in currant..!

I have a feeling that at 4.6A that i was showing yesterday it might of been higher power then 4.2W because my meter was pegged out.!

looks like i need a 10W meter now.:( I was not in the mode to spend 600$+ on one. Errrr:tsk:

I think rick said he has a powerful meter so for now my next testing estimate will do until he gets his diodes.:) Then he can meter them for there Max Because i wont be buying a new meter for at least a week or so.

Be right back with an Update Estimate power.:)

Ill only take dontation if i kill it. Thank You guys.:)!

They are rated for 20W, 4W without a heatsink (they will work without a heatsink up to 20W, but the readings won't be as accurate) Mine goes higher than 4W just fine.

The issue is likely your power supply. What voltage are your rails at? They need to be at +/-(Power being measure + 2V) so for measuring 6W you need +/-8V. Fresh 9V batteries should work :)

Edit: If it is a problem with your ophir and you need a 10W meter PM me and I'll help ya out, definitely cheaper than 600$.

Dave is selling a 10W LPM for roughly $300, he only has one left so if interested hit him up quick!

I would rep you but it wont let me.

That is great info.!

My rails are at 12V.

I have jib's dual rale board thingy . It runs either of a 12v wall wart or 2x 9v cells in series

Will a 15V Wall wart do it.?

I really do not want to open my LPM right now. But if i have to i will.?

If i can use this Ophir head passed 5W ill be happy for now. Though I will have to upgrade soon though with some of the projects iam working on.:)

Can u get them in T-03 package?

I would have loved to see them in that package.

However those packages are "Usually" Left for diodes that are TEC cooled and a 5W diode like such i dont think can be tec cooled in such a small package like those 670's fro ex.....
"By the way i got some info on those 670 that i think you will like.:)"

like ARG said it's got something to do with the power to the Rails. I would try and hook it up with a DMM and use your Other power supply to power it! and as for a Ophir Heatsink you can get one here http://laserpointerforums.com/f39/f...ensors-new-model-ultimate-ophir-hs-80878.html

Nice link. I have a custom LPM stand for mine.:)

Ill upgrade to something larger probebly soon.

If they are at 12V it should be fine to read up to 10W. Did you check with a DMM to make sure?

If the rails aren't at +/-12V you've found your problem :)
If they are at +/-12V then there's something else wrong.

Can the display read up to 5V? Is the display getting enough power? You can measure the signal voltage with your DMM up to 4.2W to make sure it's not the display.

If it's not any of those it might be your head :(

good point arg it's probably a good chance its the display that's limiting your reading!
