You need a Case Continuous + driver.

Or you must insulate the diode from the case Which is not hard to do.

Rather then using 2 drivers i would use 1 X-Drive since they can do 3A.

But to use an X-Drive you must insulate the diode from the case like i mentioned.:)

what about a flexmod p3 or two? good for 4amps

Angelos,

Thank you for sourcing these amazing diodes, and sharing your extensive testing and all the many details you have shown...

These diodes are rock solid and totally awesome...

So stoked about my new build! (running at a fairly conservative 3 Amps)

Had to share details...

Thanks again! :thanks:

You are the man...

Hey guys I am normally over on PL and came here for info on the new 5w red. I ended up buying one for testing. Unfortunately, i can't tame the beam enough for laser projector use.

I tested the diode for less than 1 hour. I used anti-static protection when handling the diode. The max current i put to the diode was 4.7 amps at which it gave 3950mW. I measured the raw divergence to be .58 and 13.4 deg at 4.7 amps. This may be helpful to someone trying to decide what lens to use for collimation.

This diode is excess to my needs and I am willing to sell it at a discounted rate of $300. Please search Pl under the name logsquared for references or also fleabay under the same.

This diode will come exactly as it came from DTR plus about an hr of testing and $125 less.

Sorry for the sale post in a normal thread. I don't have enough posts to post in the for sale section. Thx Woody

did you try using 50mm or 60mm lens ?

Yeah. At ~4amps with a 50mm fl lens the beam size at the lens is ~10mm with a divergence of around 2.6mRad.

The raw divergence of the Slow axis goes from about 4.8deg full angle at 1amp to 13.4 deg at 4.7amps.

What could work in theory is to take the output (--) knife it and restack it like (=) or pbs it like (+). But then I would need a 80mm fl lens to get the divergence under control. I would still end up with a 8mm initial beam size.

Part of the allure of these diodes from a projector stand point was the thought of easy use. Mount it, put a lens in front, TEC under and done.

I decided if I will have to knife edge I would be better off with the p73 and correction.

Ricktrent did you say u used 2x 1800mA linear drivers in parallel to get 3600mA? Was the diode okay with it?

Sorry for bringing up this old thread but are we ever going to see this diode for sale again? Sent messages to Lazeerer and DTR without reply.
