Huh, could have sworn I've posted here before, but I guess not. Guess I'd better introduce myself.

I'm Kevin Criqui. Better known as eBay seller Junktronix. I've got a pretty decent optics lab here and like to think I know what I'm doing with a pretty wide range of lasers. I built one of the first ~1W full analog RGB laser projectors way back in 2006.
I'm less of a hobbyist these days and make my living selling laser stuff on eBay and refurbishing scientific laser systems.

There's some talk of taking these babies handheld over in this thread:

The Copper Behemoth!

I think we're going to see another fabulous collaboration between LPF members to make this happen. If we can run a dual-diode handheld (with all the bells and whistles I might add) then I think you geniuses can do this within the next couple of months :D. Godspeed.

Hopefully! If the OP decides to let any more of these babies go! :yh:

Thanks for the answers guys. I did some research within a few days now and I think I found a perfect host for these diodes in a portable.
They're virtually similar to jayrobs Saik SA-305 but will house 4x 18650 batteries!
I ordered two samples and will load pics if anyone is interested in these. But, I'd have to order 100 from them so I guess a group buy? I can get them for $8.67 each + whatever the shipping will cost. Cases only, you'd need to get a heatsink made for it for your cmount diode or any diode you feel like using.

I think Blord and a few other members already used this host. If you can get it for $15 shipping included, I´m sure quite a few people would be interested.

They use electronic switches so that would need to be changed with a high current mechanical switch.

I'll try to get them at 15 then, but I think 100 is too large an order don't you think?

I'm sure you could get switches for it anywhere.
4 18650 batteries would be great I think

^^^ Id be interested at that price! Have a look in the GB section, there was one a while back and I think Eudamonium made the heat sinks for it. Perhaps check the size of the host as well to determine whether it could incorporate a TEC? I maybe wrong, but the heat sink isn't that big so it will probably be needed..

Edit: Apologies I was just looking for the link for you and realised it was the Bigboy not skyray! :( Anyway that GB was quite a big success with lots of interest, so people do like these big hosts.:) Also noticed its $8.67 not $15! Id get a few at that price!;)

Edit 2: If you sold 100 of them people would also need 400 batteries; maybe a joint GB on decent batteries would be in order. Im sure for 400 panasonics or AWs we could get very good prices?

Oh yeah I see that they went for 35 shipped and 20 invested. It's funny because the price for the torch I listed is 25 something and that includes all the "innards".
The price might go up to 15 depending how much 100 hosts cost to ship from China to US you know? I gotta get the quote from the Tech I spoke with earlier. He said he would let me know tomorrow. I don't want to take in a profit or a loss, so whatever costs are involved will be included.

The two samples I paid for are coming in... eventually (lol) so I guess by then I'll try to post my pics and opinion on these to the best of my ability. You think they're big enough for a tec?

Also I don't think I could handle all of the batteries and stuff :p money wise.
This would strictly be for the host. Unless someone wants to work with me? Maybe we could offer a complete package

Not sure but it should easily fit a small one maybe 4 cm2. Lazeerer posted a link to some tecs, but I cant find it - will look. $15 is still a good price and I think youll have a lot of interest... I dont know if Bigboys are larger, but they might also be an option?

Edit: I have thought about GB's or even selling things before, but being in Europe is a hassle. Ill probably be able to do something for the forum a little later when I finally get settled, but Im currently looking for a job and could be moving to Germany, Austria, Switzerland, France, Belgium in the future...who knows, but hopefully very soon! ;) Either way Im not ready or able to commit to a GB at the moment.
