... Probably like a new (maybe I'm just making this up...) 44x DVD writer from Sony ::) but all I can find out about it is in certain PDFs and short bits of info like this

The pin out would look like the pump diode in green pen lasers, which looks like the opposite of our "regular" 16x DVD burner laser diodes.

They'd need a boost driver capable of those currents. They exist, but can be a pain to integrate if you don't have the correct tools.
