I know its good to know about these things, but we couldnt make any DIYs from these yet, because they are 9mm instead of 5.6mm, good find anyway, someone should order one :p

Yeah but I meant for housing in the aixiz module , you couldn't fit it in the standard module.

What ? Wait what do you have up your sleeve, you sly little laserist :p

Nah honestly where would you mount one of these, an old green module or something ?

^^ Meredith module.  The Meredith modules everyone is using are made for 9mm, and a 5.6mm adapter sleeve is used to make the 5.6 mm work.

No problem. I was actually just trying to let Diachi know that these exist and are used quite commonly around here already, I was sure you already had housings available without having to resort to them. Should edit that to "^^" instead of "^", you just posted too quickly. ;)

Case positive is common for high power laser diodes because the emitting stripes are made near the surface of the positive side of the dies, so they mount it that way to avoid heat flowing through the chip and cooking it. Even case negative diodes are usually positive side down, just there is an insulating barrier made of either boron nitride or beryllium oxide- sometimes even DIAMOND!- put between the + side of the diode and the case.

:-/ i don't get it... any [move]pictures?[/move]

jamilm9: why would I waste a perfectly good $2.99 to get a piece of low quality metal that looks hideous, when I have a Meredith glass module... The diode deserves more than DX
