Well it depends on the power, if it's over 5mW then yes you do .

Yes 16x has a possibility of up to 200mw or more. If you're just burning stuff and not pointing it around, you could use it inside of a carboard box painted black on the inside. You could significantly lower the power by positioning it further from the Axiz lens...

EDIT: I apolegize for saying this. I was trying to get ten posts when I wrote this, and I really didn't know about lasers very much when I posted it. :-/

You really need safety goggles for 200mW, no matter what you do, just looking at the dot close up can damage your sight.

agreed you should always have some sort of protection from lasers above 5mw

well while we are on the topic of safety goggles kipkay on youtube make infrared goggles let let u see infrared light if u looked through them with a infrared laser would you be able to see the beam :-? ?

Why would filtering light out increase your ability to see IR light? It certainly does not work.

Use night vision goggles, or a video camera.

Ok so what makes laser glasses so special from say blue tint lenses? I know thew are not the same, but just for everyones clarification (mine too)lol. I only ask because I have military laser shades posted on here so I'm good but I also have several different blue tint shades that are the same color or darker/lighter. Will they work too?

well if the glass is blue tinted it blocks out red light but laser glasses dont need to just block but they also absorb most of the light if it gets dircectly pointed at the lense.

but it will only absorb for like 3-10second depending on the power
