Laserbtb 1W 660nm Laser Review!!!
Hello everybody! I recently purchased a 1W red laser from Zraffleticket's big blowout sale. Well, I got it in the mail today and I just can't help but to make a little review and leave some feedback for Zraffleticket. I put this in red lasers because if someone is looking for threads about this laser that is where I would look first.
First things first:
THE HOST:
SELLER INTERACTION: 9.5/10
Zraffle is very busy and yet he still saw to it that the laser was shipped in an expedient manner, which I very much appreciate. He was quick answering PM's, and notified me when he realized he had forgotten to pack up the key to the laser. No biggie, its on the way but I don't let a laser sit idle. No sir.
MY WORKAROUND:
So I was originally just going to let the poor thing sit all dejected until the keys arrived, but that isn't how I roll. So I started looking for anyway to flip that key socket. I looked at small screwdrivers, hex keys, pencils, tweezers, EVERYTHING. Finally I realized that I would need to search for something cylindrical to insert and turn. My savior? A LEGO. WTF? Seriously. Here is what I did.
1. I found a LEGO that would fit over the middle of the key hole but go inside the outer ring of it.
2. I then used my dremel to bring the OD of the LEGO down to the size of the part that fit, using it as a guide.
3. Then I took a boxcutter and carefully cut two very thin notches; exposing a tab that would fit in the part of the lock that needed to be pushed to the side.
4. After the notches were made, I used a pair of needle nose pliers to carefully bend the tab outward, creating my own little key.
5. After a few alterations to the tab size and cleaning off the plastic shavings, we are ready to rock and roll!
And of course, no review is ever complete without some....
BEAMSHOTS!!!!
CONCLUSION!
I am loving this laser. The build quality is pretty high, and having never owned one of laserbtb's bigger handhelds I can honestly say I am fairly impressed. Divergence is not lovely, but that is to be expected with a multimode diode. In fact, I cant wait to build my 1W 638 Mitsu to pair with it. Output is about 800mW consistently, which while not being as good as 1W, is definitely respectable. Great beam, Great host, Great seller. I do not regret my purchase in the slightest!
Thanks for reading!
