Is anyone familiar with the red diode from the SF-BW512L sled? Never seen a diode like this before, the pins are all in a straight line, not the classic Y shape we're used to. Here are some pics.

If your looking for the pin out Here it is:

If You put the 2 slits on the left hand side side,"there should be 1 on the top and bottom you Can see mine is in red"

So from left to right

Left Pin +
Middle Pin -
Right Pin Not Used

You can faintly see where i have marked it on the heatsink. You can see i did lot of testing to see witch pin is witch. Lucky it dint kill the diode.:)

Hope this helps. I only pushed it to 350ma into it for about 10 second then it gets to hot for the heatsink it in, i still have not found a way to heatsink these buggers.:p Iam not sure what the max current is to push these . But with out a lens and about 1 inch away from my LPM it ws reading ~170mW.:)

Hope this helps.:)
Mine was from a Different 12X sled the Rafoss first sold when they came out but it the same diode.:)

Damn, I don't want this thing then. I was hoping it would have been the SmOC diode.

Actually, do these diodes have the "wings" that the LOC and LCC's we traditionally use have?

The BDR 205 12X has the Smoc. Unfortunately i dont have mine still from my first 12x build to take picture of what that looks like for you.:(

I cannot figure out how to take it out or if its even worth trying. They are so hard to extract without damage that its not even worth it. Look at the IR diode in the picture, It s a pain to get out and got damaged bad. Here is what i believe it looks like.

This is a Picture of an IR diode out of the SF-Aw210 sled. Witch the Red diode in question looks if not identical to this:

Iam not 100% sure as i have never seen one of these Red diodes out of the heatsink but judging from the back of it, it is similar to the way this IR diode above looks like.

Hope this Helps.

Thanks. I know what the SmOC looks like, I favor them in my red builds over the traditional LOC's or LCC's due to their wings. Plus the SmOC stays very cool for some odd reason when being used.

I'm probably just going to get rid of this diode. If anyone wants it, you can have it for free as long as you pay for the shipping. I'll hold it for a week and then I'll just chuck it. With that being said, I'm only able to ship on Wednesdays & Thursdays due to my work + gym schedule, so be patient :p

Yea these are not worth the trouble to Extract. There is no Way to heatsink it properly unless you figure out some lab set up and custom made heatsink to fit the rectangle diode or get creative & figure out how to add a lens.

Thats if you Can extract it without damaging the diode in the process.

Not Worth it.
