hey everyone. is this diode multimode?...it has a bar-like output(the camera messed it up a little.) and it has stripes on the sides. but when you replace the cap, it is round. the camera makes the raw output look strange, but it is pretty bar-like. could this be a possible fix for 445nm outputs?...sorry if its not multimode, and this is a false alarm.:undecided:

Just a normal raw diode output. I wouldn't call it a false alarm, it was a genuine question.

okay, thanks proto:) i took off the cap, and saw the stripes, and was like whaaa? 445 has stripes too! and it got me kinda excited that maybe id found something useful. haha but thanks=p

a True multimode will have big vertical/horizontal bars and large gaps in the light output. kind of like this (III). What you got there is a round (O) which is a standard CW output.

445nm diodes, C-mount reds and big IR diodes exhibit multimode behaviour.

Yes, the difference is very obvious between S/M and M/M
Thanks for trying although.

That's funny... my LOCs don't have any stripes on the output..

The "stripes" are something that CAN indicate that it is a multimode diode.

BUT that doesn't mean that it isn't a die with a single emitter. Yours MIGHT be multimode, but it is definitely single emitter equipped.
