the diode is good
and diode driver

I've done many builds with the 826, it's a really great diode. Just be careful soldering! I used that driver or my absolute first build ever, if I remember correctly my 815 handled it at maximum no problem, so the 826 will handle it just fine :)

That driver is recommended at 400-500 mA, but the original driver only goes to 350. This one can put out up to that 500mA mark.

Of course, now I'm looking at picking up this set, too... :D

so if i bought this driver with the ttl input, i could adjust the current going to the diode externally? what else is required? the knob, potentiometer? TIA

I really have no idea. I was just speaking in terms of available current settings for these drivers.
