red "flashlight" diode?

i tore apart a highspeed DVD RW and got 2 diodes out. it was made by HP im pretty sure.after i test "circuit to the battery," one diode is very dim (the other bright), but both open up like a flashlight instead of a laser beam. ill show a picture:

Yes, but this:

Has a focusing ring and it's cheaper. The rest is the same.


You also need a driver for that diode, and some goggles if you wanna burn.

damn. already bought the aixiz one. any way i can put something on it to focus?

The aixiz module will work perfectly fine. You don't NEED the focusing ring to focus the laser :p It just makes it a little easier.

Edit: the guy at aixiz told me there was an adjustable lens, so i'll stay with that one. thanks for the help guys

Hi again people. I got the axiz module, but broke the driver when I took it out. Does any1 know whhere to buy just the driver
