Right i've pulled my finger out today and put one of the group buy red diodes into action 
Firstly the power is very good kicking out 100-150mw and when collminated well the divergence is brilliant. To make life easy for me i super glued a black ring (carefully) to the end of the diode. This was to make an adjustable focuser I've done a balloon at 50 feet today in my mates garden and i'm blown away with it. I've not made a good housing for the diode yet so to power it up, i used 2 x AAA and a couple of wires on a battery holder to connect the diode. This was just to test the diode and play with I'm figuring out a decent housing to make my diode housing, maybe some sort of torch (flashlight in American ;D) with a fully functional focuser.
