Hello!
I saw on laserbtb that the 445nm 1000mw laser is only six dollars more than the 500mw laser from the same place. How is this justified? I also noticed that the 500mw laser says FDA next to it. What does that mean, and why does the 1000mw laser not say that?

Here is the link to the site:
PL 405/445nm 500-2000mW

Thanks

The 1000mW and 500mW laser likely use the same diode, and same driver. Just different current settings.

As for the FDA thing, no idea.

The way I understand it, laserbtb has FDA approval to sell class 3b and lower lasers. I think I read that somewhere on there site. I'm not sure how true it is though.

That's why all their laser with a power of 500mW or less have FDA beside them. Presumably, US customs can't confiscate these, assuming they are actually approved.

In the US, it's illegal to sell any portable laser over 5mW without FDA approval. That's why the vast majority of companies are Chinese.

It is, however, perfectly legal to own one. At least for now.

Because of this, there is a chance that customs will confiscate it. I haven't heard of many confiscations, and usually they will try to get it to you again.

Of course, you could build one and avoid all that...

Never get batteries sent with a laser. Not if you want it to make it through customs.

Not to br that guy but whats the need for two threads basically about the same thing. Also your asking about 445nm in a red laser section. Just saying, no need for two threads and not even in the proper section
