Hey everyone. So I was in a punny mood today and I had my build from my personal collection on me at the time... so I decided I would take some pictures instead of writing a paper on Darwin XD.

So I call this the Arizona Copperhead because it's a type of snake that is native to North America which is notorious for its characteristic copper head. This laser, too, should be. After all, it's a sleek, stainless steel host (originally brought to the forums by rhd by the name of "Ribbed Silver") topped off with quite a literal copper head! I don't know how rhd typically does his Ribbed Silver builds, but I used a FlexDrive in this guy (so I can get a bit more battery life with the tiny IMR10440 I have with it). Because of that, though, I could not fit the top part of the Aixiz module into the host... so that's where the copper comes in!

Anyway, the part that makes this the "Copperhead" really is what I like to think of as a tiny heatsink. While the bottom end of the Aixiz module is thermally glued to the interior of the stainless steel host, I wanted a bit more heatsinking than that. So, I got on the lathe with some copper and turned down a little heatsink with the same diameter as the host, making it an almost perfect copper extension to the host, fitting exactly over the top part of the Aixiz module.

I really enjoy this build. It's a tiny little thing, which is why I called it Bite-Sized! While it does get hot quickly, it sure as hell packs a punch at about 450mW. It's been one of my carry lasers lately simply because I find a red beam cutting through the sky slightly more amazing than the beam of a 445nm laser, probably because this is newer to me.

Anyway, here are some pictures displaying the Bite-Sized Copperhead in all of its grainy-pixelated glory!

Updated the main pics, from my iPod. Beamshot still from the webcam.

Anyway, I figured I would post this up here and see what you guys think. I think it's really neat!

I did, actually ^_^ Turned it into a nice 405nm PHR :D Gave it to my girlfriend for our three month anniversary. She loved it (her favorite color is purple, and 405nm closely approximates that!). Don't mean to regift things, but it was the perfect gift to me so I could make her the perfect gift ^_^

Haha XD I'm Jewish, so I suppose I don't get to make Christmas jokes, eh? Anyway, thanks for the compliments... and I am very lucky to have the girlfriend I have :p She thinks lasers are almost as cool as I do!

Gave it to my girlfriend for our three month anniversary.

I miss those 3 month anniversaries. Sigh. This month is going on 14 years. Sigh. Did I say I miss those 3 month anniversaries?

Nice laser BTW.

Sweet build you've got there :gj:

Oh man, just had my 2nd anniversary with my girlfriend on wednesday. Time flies quick. Unfortunately she's very indifferent on lasers, but supports the idea of the hobby. You're quite lucky to have a lady with a love for lasers!

Epic build :) I like the sleekness :)

My girlfriend thinks they're cool, but doesn't know enough about them to comment so when I talk about them I get a string of "alright"'s haha, but I'm teaching her, she thinks they're "pretty"

Naw. It's not my place to do that - this is very similar to one of rhd's builds.
