Has anyone on this forum thought of using a small parabolic mirror to aim collimated lasers at the center opening up the focus to about the size of an half inch circle, positioning about ten dvd burning lasers with about 200-300mw output each all focused alike at the parabolic mirror to collect all 10 of the lasers energy and pass that through a large collimating lens to change the final focal point? If you have tried this idea let me know how it works! I realize that the beam comming out of the lens would be much larger at first but the trade off would be a high power focal point of red laser burning power up in the watts!

I believe that many car headlight reflectors are parabolic- based, so a quick trip to the junkyard could certainly lead to some interesting experiments. One thing you might consider is where the beam goes AFTER it passes the parabola's foci... just a thought.
