ok i got my host ready, after doing some mods to it i've got it to fit 2x lithium 3.6v batteries in it (the small fat ones for cameras)
and i am waiting on my rckstr 250mw fixed driver and the 16x sony diode from jake21, he said he tested them at 250, so i just want to make sure i'm not going to burn everything up when i plug the 7.2v into it.
also, i want to get the right amount of power so that the diode will last. i think the minimum was like 5.2? somewhere around that, am i going to need some kind of heat sink because of the extra 2v?
I don't plan on running the laser for more then 15-20 seconds at a time.

Nope, your 7.2v (~8ish when charged), is actually perfect for your diode/driver combo, if you got a fixed current from rckster, then all you have to do is solder it together and enjoy.

With these diodes its the current that you have to watch out for, it takes the voltage it needs (basically) so as long as the current is within the operating specs (or a bit above ;)) of the diode you have nothing to worry about, you could put 12v into the driver if you wanted to and it would be fine (thats the max of the newer rckster drivers).

Enjoy your build and have fun with the laser.

Thanks
