Oclaro 170mW 635nm Single Mode Laser Diode (HL63133DG)

Got some of the 2013 revision 4's of these diodes. Not sure they are really different but they seem much better than the last time I tested a previous revision of this diode. I remembered it LEDed running just a little over the max suggested current so I avoided them in the past. These are like a lot of newer diodes where thy can take a lot of abuse. Above 400mA there was no power increase and sat @ 250-260mW but even @ 550mA it was steady with no power drop.:)



First thing you notice is the diode has a fairly long can on it.

As always, thanks for the tests! How much will you sell these for? IIRC 250mW isnt MUCH past what the opnext can do, so hopefully the price is about the same.

They are $65. Get a lot of requests for them from the projector guys. You may not see it as a huge increase but based on the tests I have done this 170mW diode does 140% of what the 120mW version does at datasheet currents. That means a lot when building a projector and stacking them.:beer:

They were two different companies, there was a merger two years ago.

Looks great! I am contemplating a dual diode build with RG, RB, or GB soon. Gotta decide on what would be coolest. Probably RB.

Thanks DTR for all your hard and exacting work. Lots of new diodes coming out, now if I only could find some money somewhere. :>)

You already have the gold Isaac, so no rg, go RV that magenta is too sweet. For me the RB mix is a little meh :P
