please dont flame me- as a newb I see the same questions asked repeatedly. You gurus are providing an invaluable service to us newbs. But your time & talent are not being used effectively IMHO.

In the sticky area needs to be a topic - "everything you need to build a red laser" (diode/ ckt specific not host or heatsink vendors). This section could cover the various types of red diodes, the pin configuration for most common, the current requirements for long life, short burst & maximum performance/lowest life. The type of drive circuits. Suggested places to get them from type of sled etc. You know... the most common questions that you have all been asked a million times. Most people dont have the patience to research on their own (lazy or search stupid...like me) So they ask the same questions over and over again.

I know this data is all over this forum, however very spread out. Also as this sticky gets crowded with BS cudos when the thread gets to be 600 post or 28 pages people dont want to read every "thanks that worked for me" or "excellent!" or "wow, exactly what I been looking for."

Spyders??? had a very good page up regarding DIY lasers, it went into host, heatsinks and every component of a build. Which IMHO confuses the topic (overwhelm with data)

So when the future when a newb ask..." how do you......???" the first responder could say...Have you read thoroughly the link...(post sticky link) then come back and ask your question. Threads would be smaller, data would be more precise and locatable and the gurus could do what gurus do best...guru things.

Just a suggestion. I will save everyone the grief of listing this on blue & green threads maby this needs to go under a different topic.. admin feel free to move it or delete it

thank you!

Well, in my opinion the current layout is fine, and Spyderz20x6's tutorial is excellent. You don't have to read through 28+ pages of crap to get the basic point, which is in the first post. There aren't usually that many PLZ HELP ME MAEK RED LAZ0R NAO! threads, since most people search for the tutorials and only ask for help when they get stuck. And plus, the members are happy to point out some tips, etc.

I probably shouldn't chime in on this (famous last words eh)...

I feel that some things are best found, and best used, by those that really want them.  There are no buckets of water here, and no steep hill, but apprentices (of which I am the lowest) sometimes need to work for it. I am not against tutorials, but there is a balance between no information and too easy to be worthwhile.

Much of the esoteric (and other) knowledge available on the web and in print is purposefully WRONG for this very reason.  I've said too much already :-X

Searching is a different matter. Every forum in existence could use a sticky on how to do site-specific searches, but the folks who need to read those stickies never will...
